| Under the leadership
of partner Willa Hallowell, GROVEWELL
has long taken a particular interest in the challenges facing female assignees,
that is, women assigned by their employer to live and work in an unfamiliar
nation and culture.
Through extended formal interviews, dozens of individual coaching sessions, and numerous personal friendships with female assignees from the U.S. and abroad, Ms. Hallowell has developed a deep understanding of not only their challenges but also of their significant advantages as managers and professionals immersed in cultures abroad. Ms. Hallowell is the principal developer of Coaching for Global Advantage(CGA), GROVEWELL's signature service. This innovative approach to improving coachees' cultural competency and performance in an unfamiliar environment is applied in GROVEWELL's coaching of businesswomen assigned abroad. For complete information about CGA, click here. Ms. Hallowell was quoted extensively
in an article on women in global business, "Surfing the Rough Sea," by
Louisa Wah, published by Management Review in September 1998.
She has presented on this topic at international conferences organized
by the American Management Association (Chicago 1999), Women on the Move
(London 2000), and the Women's International Network (Lausanne 2003).
In addition, Ms. Hallowell has co-authored two articles on this topic,
both of which can be read on this website at Grovewell.com/pub-expat-females.html
and Grovewell.com/pub-expat-women.html.
