Global Leadership Coaching

Global Leadership Coaching

Coaching for Global Advantage is GROVEWELL’s leadership coaching approach. It enables leaders to adapt and perform skillfully in the global arena. We give special attention to building relationships with diverse stakeholders who have ways of working different from one's own.

Coaching for Global Advantage was developed by corporate anthropologists and perfected during 1,000+ engagements with corporate leaders worldwide. As a result, it’s the only brand of leadership coaching deliberately crafted to be global-minded in content and delivery. It is not a Made-in-America product that’s “global” merely in distribution.

WHAT MAKES OUR LEADERSHIP COACHING DIFFERENT?

GROVEWELL is distinguished by its coaches. Helping leaders acquire new competencies requires coaches who have years of cross-cultural corporate leadership experience. GROVEWELL's coaches culturally calibrate their deliveries in order to resonate with each coachee’s cultural perspectives. For GROVEWELL’s coaches, coaching is a personal mission to support each coachee’s transformation into a global leader. Learn More

WHAT MAKES GLOBAL LEADERSHIP DIFFERENT?

Managers who become global leaders soon question what it means to be a "good leader" when those being led have differing perspectives and values. As a result, new global leaders find that they need an expanded set of competencies. Why? Because every business person is accompanied to work by his or her culture. The result is that we can find ourselves sharing business objectives with others who don’t agree how to attain them. Learn More

WHAT MAKES GLOBAL LEADERSHIP DIFFERENT?

Becoming a global leader is a challenge like no other. Leaders who have proven successful at home find themselves questioning their core beliefs. For example, they revisit what constitutes good "leadership," what priorities a business should embrace, and how they can effectively lead others with diverse perspectives and values. To be an effective global leader, one must be open-minded, resilient, able to navigate through complexity, and equipped with an expanded set of competencies.

Why an expanded set of competencies? Because every business person is accompanied to work by his or her culture. “Culture” refers to the traditions, beliefs, values, and behaviors that each one of us shares with others in our formative social group. At work, we continue to enact our culture with those who share it, and with others who are busily enacting their own, often quite different, cultures. The result is that we can find ourselves sharing business objectives with others who don’t agree how to attain them.

What those expanded competencies are, and how best to acquire them, are questions that GROVEWELL has devoted itself to answering since the early 1990s. We knew that we had to figure out how to go about delivering coaching to business people from cultures on six continents. This was critical because people from different cultures have widely differing reactions to the possibility, and the reality, of partnering with a coach to enhance their capacities.

WHAT MAKES OUR LEADERSHIP COACHING DIFFERENT?

GROVEWELL is distinguished by its coaches. Helping leaders acquire new competencies requires coaches who have years of cross-cultural business leadership experience. It also requires coaches who, each day, demonstrate personal qualities such as empathy that a developing global leader can emulate. Our coaches culturally calibrate the content and delivery of their working sessions in order to resonate with each coachee’s cultural perspectives. Equally important, our coaches bring to each engagement their intensive training as coaches – and their hearts.

For GROVEWELL’s coaches, coaching is a personal mission to support each coachee’s transformation into a global leader. For instance, he or she needs to be able to leverage differences, build relationships with diverse stakeholders, lead high-performing global teams, and shift strategies in response to environmental changes.

Our basic leadership coaching objectives for each coachee are

  • An expanded and more versatile leadership repertoire
  • An enhanced set of competencies for leadership across cultures
  • More respectful, productive relationships with diverse colleagues
  • Self-correcting behavior when encountering an unfamiliar culture
  • Effective, accelerated transitions into new roles and environments
  • Capacity to deliver intentionally sophisticated leadership worldwide.
